Our Y9 boys indoor cricket team kept their 100% win record by beating Halifax Academy, and in doing so earn their place in the Calderdale final against grammar school rivals North Halifax
Crossley Heath batted first and despite captain Aayan scoring quickly and retiring on 37, it was a below par performance with the bat, with Hammad the only other Crossley's player getting into double figures (12). Three unnecessary run-outs meant that Crossley's were out for 72, only having used 9.2 of their 16 overs.
So, in the hunt for a place in the final, it was down the bowlers to get the job done, and get the job done they did. Ayaan M, Aayan K, Finlay and Yahya bowled with pace and accuracy to limit the Halifax Academy runs in the early stage of their innings and it wasn't long before wickets started to fall. Aayan K taking 3 wickets and a smart run out, with Ayaan M and Yahya taking a wicket each. With quick, precise fielding on top, Hammad being the pick of the bunch, Halifax Academy were put under too much pressure. Crossley's winning by 32 runs.
We look forward to the final taking place on Tuesday 11th February.
