The Careers Fund is an organisation set up by the Old Crossleyan’s Association with the intention of helping both present and former pupils of the school to further their chosen career. There is an annual sum of money which is available to distribute to suitable applicants to the fund.
Grants have also been awarded to ex-students who became involved in worthwhile projects/activities that needed specific financial support. The committee still works actively to provide such support as well as to provide support to students who require help with funding out of school activities.
In recent years students and past students have been awarded grants to support them in their fundraising attempts to embark upon expeditions, Medlink courses, to attend summer schools and to enable them to participate in national and international competitions as well as providing much needed resources during university years.
Applications for financial support, which will be treated in strict confidence, should be made to Hazel Clayton (Committee Secretary) at hazelclayton42@hotmail.co.uk or to the Head Teacher, c/o the school.
Heath Old Boys Association exists to keep old boys of the former Heath Grammar School in touch with each other.
The Old Scholars Association was established in 1900 by old scholars of the Crossley & Porter School, with the objective of creating opportunities for members to keep in touch with each other and to support the school.
The Association is made up of former pupils of all eras of the Crossley and Porter and Crossley Heath schools. Their aim is to provide friendship among former pupils and help them to maintain a connection with the school. They have a worldwide membership of over 800.
The Crossley Heath Rugby Development Fund (CHRDF) is a group of parents who have formed a small committee to support rugby at the School. The group was initially set up in 2000 to help fund the first major tour to Canada. Since then it has continued to support bi-annual trips to Australasia for year groups 11 and 12 and trips to Canada for year groups 9 and 10 in the alternating years. Financial assistance is given to many aspects of Crossley Heath Rugby – coaching, kit, catering etc., and every attempt is made to ensure that all boys wishing, and selected, to tour are not prevented from doing so due to financial implications.
To date we are proud to say that this aim has always been achieved. There are many ways for parents, friends and guardians to support school rugby. Sponsorship and support of fundraising events and activities are vital if we are to continue and maintain our objective and ensure the future of rugby at Crossley Heath School.
Volunteering to help in the match day kitchen for example is something everyone can get involved with and is not only an ideal way of meeting other parents and players, but an essential part in the smooth running of all home games.
The ‘CHRDF’ welcomes all areas of help, ideas and support and we look forward to meeting you at one of our many ‘Fund Raising Events’ in due course. If you would like to know more about getting involved with the CHRDF, please contact Mr Hale via school, any committee member or any of the volunteers in the kitchen on match days. We meet on the first Tuesday of each month during term time in the school Conference Suite . We would particularly like to welcome new members, especially from our new intake.
